Chain slings can be used in a range of temperatures from -40ºC do +200ºC.
In case of 4 leg slings only 3 legs are taken into consideration for calculations – it is
assumed that the precision of producing a sling is not sufficient to evenly distribute
the load onto all of the four legs.
The angle of leg deviation
α
can not exceed 60º.
When actions enlisted below are carried out they change the WLL by a given value.
Action
Multiply by
number of legs
(1,2 or 3)
Annotations
Choke
0,80
-
Deviation by up to 45º
0,70
(cosin 45º)
Deviation by up to 60º
0,50
(cosin 60º)
Edge
0,50
Sharp edge
Edge
0,70
Edge with a radius smaller then the chain size
Edge
1,00
Edge with a radius bigger then the double the chain size
Use of x legs
0,50
From a 2 leg sling
Use of x legs
0,33
From a 4 leg sling
When several of the above conditions occur at the same time it is important to
calculate a product of values of each condition. For example using two legs of
4 leg slings (0,66), deviation of legs approx. 50º (0,50), with choke (0,80), lifted
element has two sharp edges (0,50).
